One of Julie Brown Neu’s first major sewing projects might have been the Walkman® cover she made one summer day to protect the tape player from raspberry brambles as she did chores on the family farm. But, she didn’t start quilting until after college when she wondered how she’d spend all of the time she’d previously spent studying. In the nearly fifteen years since graduation, quilting has gone from being a hobby to keep her hands busy after work to an absolute passion.
Julie began her quilting pursuits with traditional, hand quilted bed quilts, often in the bright jewel tone fabrics that she prefers. She has since added art quilts and their various techniques, such as fusing, painting, dyeing, etc. to her repertoire. Now, in addition to time spent working in her Massachusetts studio, Julie teaches, lectures, and sells patterns and quilted items online and through local fairs.
