Waggas are Australia’s most basic of utilitarian quilts and historically were simply constructed using available materials such as hessian bags, old clothes and tailors’ samples. They were made to use up and be well used. Each of my three children asked for a version of these warm and hardy quilts when they left home. Made on the overlocker/serger from upholstery samples with minimal quilting. Included in this pattern are Waggaz Basicz - with ideas behind every aspect of making these quilts - as well as FOUR project sheets - three from upholstery samples, one from cotton. Recyle heaven!
Since 1996, under the business name “Stargazey”I have developed contemporary piecing and appliqué techniques in my distinctively contemporary, colorful, rule-breaking style.
C&T has published my three books; Cut Loose Quilts, Reverse Appliqué With No Brakez and Free & Eazy Circles. Each book explores less structured approaches to quilt making - just like my patterns.
Designing fabrics for Marcus Brothers is probably what I'm best known for. With twenty-two collections produced to date, my colorful, simple prints are easily recognizable.
