You are responsible for all testing, editing and corrections of your ePattern instructions. You can update your ePattern file at any time whenever you need to enhance the file or correct errors. If we are notified by shoppers of any errors in your ePattern, we will forward the notification on to you promptly so you can address it. C&T Publishing does not provide any proofreading, editing or design services for your ePatterns.
All ePatterns you upload will be sold as electronic downloads only; no physical printed patterns will be featured, sold, or shipped from PatternSpot.com. You can sell your pattern both ways at the same time—as an ePattern on our site and as a printed pattern elsewhere—to appeal to all possible audiences. We believe that ePattern sales go hand-in-hand with print pattern sales and can benefit your business. Selling ePatterns can enhance print pattern sales by generating broader outreach and exposure. Offering your new patterns as downloads first can be an effective test of the market’s response before you invest time and money in printing.
PatternSpot.com does not require exclusivity for distribution. You are welcome to upload and sell previously published patterns, as long as you personally own the rights to said patterns (electronic or printed).
As a security measure, your for sale ePattern file will be “stamped” in the margin of each page (not the cover) upon each sales transaction with the Shopper’s name and the following message:
Licensed for one-time, personal use to
This type of customized watermark deters Shoppers from sharing ePatterns beyond the point of sale. Designers are solely responsible for handling any alleged copyright infringements upon discovery. Click here for more information on properly reporting copyright abuse.
You decide what price you want to charge for your ePattern. Generally we have found that shoppers expect the price of the download to be between 60-80% of what you would charge for the printed version. Use your best judgement and test different price points. You can also offer specials and discounts on PatternSpot.com by emailing us with the ePattern title(s), the special pricing, and the date range for your promotion.
Our Charter Designers (selected by invitation) have helped to set the quality standard for future Designers who upload. Subscribe to the Designer eNewsletter for tips and tools on creating high-quality ePatterns. PatternSpot.com will be very discerning about which featured patterns will be displayed on the home page. Shoppers can also participate in setting quality standards by following their favorite Designers and rating and reviewing their ePattern purchases. People browsing the site can then search and sort patterns by favorite designers, ePattern rankings, or best-sellers. PatternSpot.com does not proofread or edit ePattern uploads, however we reserve the right to remove (with notice) any ePatterns that receive multiple complaints or negative reviews.
You can temporarily deactivate or permanently delete your ePatterns from the site at any time if you wish to discontinue selling. Go to your Account Page, click My Uploads. Next to each pattern you will find the settings to make the changes.
Maximum PDF file size is 50 MB. There are no constraints on the page count of your PDF file or on the working size of the project, but to give your customers the best results, we recommend that you ensure your ePattern pages and templates are designed to be easily printed and tiled (if applicable) using standard size printer paper. Specify within the ePattern instructions what size printer paper your PDF is set up for: US letter (8.5”x11”), US legal (8.5”x14”); US tabloid (11”x17”) or an international size such as A4 (210x297 mm).
