"Sew Vintage" flouncy hat has such a cute and flattering shape for your little one. Make one to match every outfit.

The feminine hat has two rows of flouncy ruffles surrounding the face and has a pretty bow in the back. The hat fits snuggly with elastic hidden underneath the bow in back. I have added an optional neck strap with adjustable snap closure. We found out that it stays on really well with just the elastic fit.

The hat pattern has sizes from 3 months to 24 months and all are included in the same pattern.

A dressier version of the hat has ribbon neck ties and bow with lace around the flounces. I used French machine sewing and serger techniques on this hat.

The sun suit seen in some of the photos is the "Sew Vintage" Sun Suit pattern. The hat pattern is included with that pattern as a combo.

Foot Loose & Fancy Free Patterns

I do not have a fairy tale or quaint story to tell. I am just a hard working mother of 5 children and now I am raising 2 teen granddaughters. I have a great husband who even finds time after his long day to compliment me on my sewing designs.

I started sewing in the third grade. I have been sewing for over 50 years. My daughter and granddaughters still kid me about being a fashion designer when I criticize their choice of attire. I am ancient in their eyes. Most of my designs are from when I sewed for my daughter 30 years ago. That makes me and my designs VINTAGE!

Over the years, I have studied many different and correct sewing techniques. I started out with basic sewing for 4H club competition and later learned couture sewing techniques for state contests. I started college with sewing and design contest scholarships, majoring in fashion design but later switched to business. When my daughter was little, I went to sewing school and learned French hand and machine sewing techniques and smocking. My patterns will show how to accomplish many of these techniques. The patterns will give you the choices of just basic sewing on a plain sewing machine, options for finer sewing techniques and tips on sewing with a serger. All of my patterns are designed and written with the beginner seamstress in mind.
