I was amassed a mighty collection of knits, hand and machine knitted, mine, my family's. I have intended for a while to remake them to cover the family with love. They have now been cut into hexagons and other one (or two) block wonderz! With this surprisingly simple technique we rotary cut repeats of a shape using a template of your choice. Use these as a single layer or double/backed layer. Use both an overlocker/serger and sewing machine. The overlocker to trim and edge them and controls the knit fabric well. The sewing machine to stitch the butted units together. Polar fleece and commercial knit yardage will work. T-shirts work very well. Woven wools & heavy/upholstery fabrics also work but do not have the cuddle and drape of knits. As long as it can fit through the overlocker it should work...

Stargazey Quilts

Since 1996, under the business name “Stargazey”I have developed contemporary piecing and appliqué techniques in a distinctively contemporary, colorful, rule-breaking style. C&T has published my three books; Cut Loose Quilts, Reverse Appliqué With No Brakez and Free & Eazy Circles. Each book also explores less structured approaches to quilt making. Designing fabrics for Marcus Brothers is probably what I'm best known for. My twenty-two collections of colorful, simple prints are easily recognizable. Whilst my publishing new work is minimal of late uploading older much loved patterns is still ongoing. I'm really loving being intricately involved in growing skills in my local textile community whilst forging new paths in my artwork.
