Oh My Stars! Sampler A colorful piano-key border surrounds a quilt-top full of sparkling stars in this lap quilt or wall hanging. Make it in pastels as shown for a baby’s room or in bolder colors to coordinate with your decor. The pieces for the star blocks are easily cut from scraps, fat quarters, charm squares, and other precuts. For the border, you’ll need fat quarters (or equivalent yardage) of at least two different prints of each of four colors (8 total) to achieve the scrappy look. Log-Cabin-style sashing  added to each block sets the blocks apart in an unusual and appealing manner. The Oh My Stars! Sampler is a lesson in how color and design can make a difference with a simple block design. Three classic block designs were used to create a total of ten different, but related, star blocks, simply by changing the block centers and color placements. There are many more ways to “color” these to make the quilt your own.
