Skipping School is a fun pattern in the perfect size for a baby/toddler (39.6x44.55) with an optional border treatment to bring it up to 53"x58" for older children or adults. The quilt utilizes drunkard's path blocks. I designed this quilt to work with accuquilt 3.5" drunkard's path die but it will work with any 3.5" drunkard's path template. I have also included printable templates for those who don't have the die cutter or an acrylic template.
I've done a mock up of a few different color schemes with the border option. The square picture cropping on patternspot makes the borders look different sizes but they are even all around. First is Lucy's Crabshack by Sweetwater for Moda. Second is Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket for Moda. Finally, School Days by American Jane for Moda.
I've listed this as an intermediate skill level due to the curved piecing but really it is a great start to curved piecing...only 2 seams to match per fish.
I am a mom of three boys who makes patterns in my free time. I love geometric quilt patterns and admire traditional quilt designs that can be modified or simplified to work with today's fabrics. For free tutorials by me, you can check my blog or Moda Bake Shop.
