Color Mews is a pattern inspired by Ann Fahl’s cat named Oreo.
As you can see, the cat in this pattern is a very colorful character, as she is in real life. You can change it in any way you wish, using up your little scraps. She’ll be adorable in whatever color scheme you desire.
In the photo, the purple cat is fused on a yellow pieced background; covered with blue, green, red and orange spots; and appliqued with a buttonhole stitch. The cat and toys are set inside a thin fused border that is easy to make.
Her shadow is created by laying a piece of illusion veiling beneath her. The pattern is given for this.
You can use the different colored patches to explore embroidery stitches by hand or machine. Or they could be beaded. Take the cat, make 2 or 4, and place them on a table runner. Let your imagination run wild.
This pattern is appropriate for all levels of quilt makers with sewing machine experience. The finished quilt size is approximately 17 x 22 inches. This pattern was introduced on Ann’s segment on thequiltshow.com #111.
