This pattern is inspired by origami cranes. In Japanese lore, strings of 1000 folded cranes are thought to bring good luck and are often given as a wedding gift or to a new baby. They have also become a symbol of peace. A quilt featuring origami cranes would be a perfect gift for anyone with a special place in their heart for Japan and Japanese culture!
Three sizes (baby, lap, and queen) are included--or come up with your own arrangement for the blocks!
This quilt is paper pieced, and assumes familiarity with the paper piecing technique. Instructions on basic paper piecing are *NOT* included. However, resources for learning paper piecing are available at http://flyingparrotquilts.com/resources.
You will receive: -Thorough instructions on cutting, piecing, and assembly -Full-sized paper piecing templates for both left- and right-facing cranes -Quilting diagrams and template for negative space blocks
When printing your pattern, please ensure that scaling is set to 100% in order for all pattern pieces to print correctly.
I'm a scientist by day, so I love combining this with my love of sewing by creating quilts that convey some aspect of science, yet are still beautiful to look at. Not all of my quilts are science-related though--I also love fresh modern designs and bright colors.
