Our 'Harvest Blessings' pattern is an approximately 10" by 16" candle mat/penny rug decoration using wool felt and the buttonhole stitch much like the penny rugs were made years ago. Penny rugs were popular in the 1800s, starting around the time of the Civil War. Women would use scraps of wool or felted wool from old clothing, blankets and hats to create items to be used for mats or rugs.
The buttonhole stitch is fairly easy to master and I have found this form of needlework to be fun and addicting. I hope you will enjoy making our design to display it in your home or give as a gift.
Pattern includes detailed instructions, full size pattern pieces, and full-color cover so you can clearly see the finished project.
A color printer is highly recommended to print cover pages.
Your pattern download includes 1 pdf file which includes the pattern cover- color pictures of completed project,  pattern instructions, templates, pattern pieces. All 12 pages are printed on 8.5x11 paper.

Cloth Dolls by Stitch 'N Stuff

I  have designed cloth dolls, doll patterns and general sewing patterns since 1992 and I have maintained a website ( where I sell my dolls and patterns since 1995. I have always liked sewing and creating. Dolls are my passion; however, I recently tried my hand at a penny rug type design just for fun and instantly fell in love with the hand-sewing technique. I have already designed two (2) patterns using the buttonhole stitch and many more are on the drawing board. I take pride in using extra care in sewing my items. Most doll clothing is removable; doll dresses are lined and any seams that show are serged. My folk art doll clothes are finished with vintage buttons to complement their outfit. My doll "Liberty" was selected to be photographed for the 2003 Early American Life magazine's "Directory of Traditional American Crafts". My patterns are clearly written, but if you have any problems with any step along the way, feel free to email me. I want your time sewing my patterns to be enjoyable; I will do everything in my power to help you complete your project. Please feel free to email at
